Tea: the buying guide
A family of four brewing three rounds a day uses about 1 kg of tea a month; the 1 kg pack or the 500 g pair is the economical buy. CTC ("crush, tear, curl") gives strong, milky chai; leaf tea is lighter and better without milk. Check the FSSAI number and the packing date: tea loses aroma after a year. Store in an airtight tin, away from the spice rack; tea picks up smells fast.
