Coffee: the buying guide
Instant coffee in the 200 g jar suits one or two drinkers; a heavy coffee house should buy the refill pouch and decant. Filter coffee is sold as chicory blends: 80:20 is the traditional South Indian ratio, 100% coffee is stronger. Roasted ground coffee goes stale within a month of opening, so buy 250 g and keep it sealed. Check the FSSAI number and packing date; coffee is best within a year.
